Teppou Republic
Total War: Shogun II - Tsu Campaign - With Darthmod, ES Units Mod and FotS Artillery Mod
The people of Iga province were once an independent republic, nestled in the forgotten mountains of central Japan. Their days of being ruled by no Emperor or Shogun eventually came to an end, but for some the tale of the old ways remained captivating. For one man in particular, Lord Todo Takayuki, that tale informs his every move amid the rising tumult of the land.

Foreign guns and money have destabilised the realm, and a new civil war is starting. All must choose who they will fight for: Emperor Meiji, or Shogun Tokugawa. But the Lords of Tsu know of the third option their people once held dear, and certainly won't let this chance to seize their dream pass by.

Key Characters
Todo Takayuki
The Lord of the Tsu domain. A descendant of Todo Takatori of the Sengoku Jidai era, an accomplished general with a penchant for changing sides in major wars - it seems this trait is hereditary! Takayuki wishes to bring the dream of Iga to life - to create a state that does not rely on the Imperial or Shogunate systems, avoiding all the troubles that come with those ancient institutions.

Todo Takahisa
The Prince of Iga, son of Takayuki. A well-traveled and poorly respected officer who cannot see the up-side of the clan betraying old bonds. But as one of the foremost military commanders of the clan, he'll be expected to find victory no matter the reason for the war.

Utsunomiya Takomichi
A younger general whose desire for independence outmatches even Takayuki's. Not particularly skilled as a commander, he was picked for this loyalty and popularity.

(I can't remember the rest... there are probably one or two more important ones!)

Fun Facts!
-
Teppou Republic was the first series where some aspects of the stories and characters were planned in advance - most obviously in the plan to become a republic.
-
Before making a YouTube channel I had attempted the same campaign and failed due to the campaign time limit running out! Luckily it seems I had improved a little by the time I came to film for the gameplay for this series. But that original failed campaign was very fun and inspired the series. Notably, that failed campaign was also the last time I actually played a campaign in Total War for entertainment purposes - ever since I have only played games in the series to get footage.
-
Throughout the series I kept getting Takayuki and Takahisa mixed up, as I for some reason associated Takayuki as a 'younger' name, so assume it is the son of the family, while it is actually the head of the family. I made the same mistake while writing this page for the first time, despite remembering that I always got it wrong so needed to be careful, so clearly nothing has changed there!
