Time for an actual blog post to warm my fingers up on this chilly November afternoon.
The previous month saw the beginnings on the new Fields of Mars NLP, with a lovely reception and all. some very nice gameplay events have been recorded for future episodes so I thinks it's gonna turn out to be a very solid production, though I type so myself. Episode 4 involves me doing both Scottish AND Irish accents, both of which contain hints of the other, as well as hints of Russian, Indian, Skyrim Nord, and probably just about every other accent in my "20% steady accents" repertoire.
I've also started working on my new series of 'bad' videos, that I call "This is Content". I dare you to come up with a more appropriate name; I realised I needed more content on the channel to please the great and holy algorithm of the YouTube gods, after seeing how the re-release of Massalia Tales had a big positive impact on all my other videos as well.
So I'll be making some low production value, regular LP videos, mercifully edited down to highlights reels as unedited LPs are the scourge of the internet. That way I can make videos quickly, and not have to downsize the production of any of my regular content. Horray! Although all this only works if the videos produced are at least watchable, which may not be the case considering how much I cringe at my own try-hard attempts to make a solo live LP entertaining. We shall see...
Now here's an exciting piece of news: I got a new desk! It's very nice, bigger than the old one, with space to put my legs underneath and room for all my junk to be better distributed. Plus if I ever live my dream of having a second monitor, there should just about be room for that too, which will make lots of things more productive, especially the copying of lines from scripts into video editing panels as I constantly do for Nariko's Treasure.
I have the world's worst picture of the new desk, so I shall attempt to show a comparison.
Wtaf my phone camera is so bad! Both images taken with the same device, but the latter is under electric lighting under which this camera for some reason goes insanely blurry and changes the colour of everything. Well, perhaps you get the picture (HA!). New mouse, keyboard and custom woolen wrist-rest also added since the first pic too. Plus the matching black colours for everything is pretty BA.
The desk was the cheapest desk sold in the Bristol Ikea, a store that proved very hard to find and of course hard to navigate once inside, but rewards your effort with outrageously low prices, meatballs, and the ability to go through the whole process without talking to anyone since it's all self-service and self-build. Nice.
The question of create a way for my mic to attach to new desk remains, as it is too thick to just clamp it on as I previously did. Going to attempt some modifications tomorrow to add a little rail for the mic to attach to.
Blogs are terribly dull eh? Well here's some exciting news: in less than 2 weeks I'll be off to the CA mod awards in Horsham, where I might get to see some sneaky peaks of their future DLC and games. Won't be able to tell anyone about it due to non-disclosure agreements, but I'll know, and will prepare my cynical remarks well in advance of launch, as I did with Warhammer! And as usual I will attempt to make them accept my backseat game design criticism as gospel. One glorious day...
